H2O Xtream is getting a major upgrade and has closed for approximately 12 months.

H2O Xtream has closed for approximately 12 months for a major upgrade.
Project outcome: a new leisure pool and learn to swim pool, new hydroslides and reception. We’re also replacing the plant equipment and gas boiler, so the running of H2O Xtream is much more sustainable.
And if you’re wondering what you’ll do without us in 2023, don’t worry, we’ve managed to secure some swimming space at Fulton Swim School for public swimming and hydro, and with Trentham School for swimming lessons. H2O concession cards can be used here.

We have also secured an additional swimming location so we can continue to offer lessons at a reduced capacity. We’ll contact our existing customers directly to provide the timetable and details on how to book.
LATEST NEWS - 21 APRIL 2023
It’s been hard to miss all the activity happening onsite at H2O Xtream over the last couple of weeks with demolition well underway. Check out these photos!
On the outside the hydroslides, hydroslide tower, and external cladding has come down. Inside, the Maycroft team is working on removing the old plant equipment now that the new boiler room and plant is complete.
Whirinaki Whare Taonga shares these services with H2O, and they are already enjoying the benefits of this more energy efficient heating system.
We’ll continue to share progress photos and drone footage of the upgrade. Keep an eye on our Facebook page and website. The full details about the project are also available on the Council website at upperhuttcity.com/h2oxtream-upgrade.

The major works for the H2O upgrade are underway. To ensure that can happen safely, our contractors (Maycroft Construction) need some extra space for their worksite and there are some changes coming that will impact parking and pedestrian access in the surrounding streets.
The highlighted area on this map outside H2O on Blenheim Street and into Fergusson Drive shows where the parking spaces will be removed.
The pedestrian crossing on Blenheim Street (near Martin St and Jetts) will be taken out and moved around the corner temporarily to Fergusson Drive, outside Dough Bakery/Whirinaki/Council offices.
The yellow arrows show the pedestrian access to be followed.
The entire H2O carpark will remain closed and is a construction site so please do not try and enter.
This new layout will be in place from Monday 3 April for the duration of the upgrade.
Don’t worry if you forget, there will be plenty of way-finding signage to help you navigate the new path if you’re walking.
And if you’re looking for a park, remember that we opened a new car park opposite Dough Bakery/Whirinaki/Council offices on Fergusson Drive (shown on the map). If you have any questions about these changes or about the H2O upgrade project, get in touch with us.

There will be other activities happening throughout the year so follow us on Facebook or check our website to stay in the loop. We’ll also provide project updates as we move through the upgrade.
You can read more about the project on our website or have a chat with a member of the H2O team.
